Optional Mahjong Classroom tutor accounts

Students can join Mahjong Classroom lessons without creating an account. Tutors may optionally create a passwordless tutor account so they can keep lesson history and saved teaching positions between sessions.

For tutor accounts, we may store:

  • The tutor's email address
  • Lesson metadata such as Mahjong variant, timestamps, duration, status, and student count
  • Teaching scenarios or table positions the tutor explicitly saves

Tutor sign-in uses one-time email links. Raw sign-in tokens are not stored in the database; a cryptographic hash is stored and the link becomes invalid after 20 minutes or after it is used.

Automatically collected information

When you visit our Website, certain information may be collected automatically:

  • IP address
  • Device and browser type
  • Pages visited and interactions
  • Approximate location (city/region level)

This data is collected via Google Analytics (GA4) and similar analytics tools to help us understand how the site is used and improve performance.

Video and Audio Communication (WebRTC)

The App offers live video and audio chat between players using WebRTC technology.

  • Video and audio streams are transmitted peer-to-peer between players whenever possible.
  • When direct connection is not possible due to network restrictions, streams may be temporarily relayed through servers hosted on DigitalOcean solely to establish connectivity.
  • We do not record, store, analyze, or retain any audio or video data.
  • No facial recognition or biometric analysis is performed.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate Website:

  • Google Analytics (analytics)
  • Google AdSense (advertising)
  • Cloudflare (security and performance)
  • Simple Analytics (traffic insights)
  • DigitalOcean (infrastructure)
  • Resend (transactional tutor sign-in email, when configured)

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide optional tutor accounts, lesson history, and saved teaching positions

Tutor account data is retained while the account remains active. Tutors can delete their account from the Mahjong Classroom dashboard; this deletes the tutor account, durable lesson history, saved teaching positions, and outstanding sign-in links. Short-lived live-classroom recovery snapshots are separate operational data and normally expire automatically.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.
